The Art of Exclusion

This episode of EAVESDROPPING was triggering. I immediately flashed back to my college roommate's wedding. They put me at the singles' table, alone with the bride's friends. Things were good. I was making friends and dancing with everyone. I thought we were vibing.

When the bride's friends made plans to after party at a bar, one of the dudes came to have a talk with me. "Hey, man, we're planning to make tonight a mini-reunion. You understand, right?"

I understand, but it still hurt my feelings.

I know he was probably trying to bone, but I still worry I was weird, gauche, and unwelcome.
